Kayaknya blog yg ini sudah waktunya diganti jadi Catatan *** Nerjemah, dan *** adalah sesuatu yg masih perlu dipertanyakan, soalnya "habis" kayaknya sudah bukan kata yg tepat, soalnya saya sdh agak lama nggak mbahas cerita HABIS nerjemah.
Okelah, yg penting saya bagi dulu nih oleh-oleh dari esai Eyang Guru Fritz Senn tentang masalah-masalah yg panjenengangipun temui terkait Ulysses terjemahan dalam bahasa Perancis, Jerman, Spanyol, dan Belanda. Berikut ini paragraf penutup esai panjenenganipun yg berjudul Translation as Approach:
The student of Ulysses can learn from the translator, who is a neglected expert, often a modest one, more concerned about getting on with the job at hand than talking about it and not inclined to make a display of his insights and discoveries. He is also a creator, remaining within or behind or beyond of complete one, even if every individual gloss is incomplete (and some are wrong). We can benefit from his predicament and learn from his frustrations. They help show us just what makes Ulysses tick.
